Job Description

ANTICIPATED TEACHER VACANCY 2026-2027
The following position is posted in accordance with the negotiated agreement:
POSITION
1.0 FTE Elementary Teacher- UPK (Probationary Appointment)
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION
NYS Certification Students with Disabilities K-12 or 1-6; K extension NYS Certification Early Childhood Education Birth - 2nd
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong knowledge of child development and early childhood instructional practices. Experience working with preschool-aged children is preferred. Knowledge of literacy development, play-based instruction, early numeracy, and social-emotional learning. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Commitment to creating an inclusive, center-based, and supportive learning environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Plan and deliver engaging, play-based, and developmentally appropriate instruction. Create a positive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and a love of learning. Support children's social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development. Ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices and social emotional curriculum. Differentiate instruction to meet students' various developmentally appropriate needs. Maintain effective classroom management and establish clear routines and expectations. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in grade-level, school, and district professional development opportunities. Foster an inclusive, hands-on, and welcoming environment that values diversity and equity.
START DATE
September 1, 2026 (with opportunity for paid summer work for preparation and training)
SALARY:
Compensation as per District/AFA Collective Bargaining Agreement
