Job Description:

PURPOSE OF JOB

To assist in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in the classroom and planning activities as needed to assist the co-teachers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development through implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the recommended standards to ensure health, safety, and nutrition of children. 2. Assist in creating a learning environment based on children's needs, interests, and abilities and one that is reflective of the children's families and culture. 3. Partner with families to create an open system of effective communication and assist in making smooth transitions from home to the classroom and to demonstrate professional practices in all aspects of work. Use various techniques to observe children and record their work to share with co-teachers. Complete professional development plan annually with supervisor and maintain credentialing required by Keystone Stars, NAEYC, and DPW. Willingly participate in Children's Village functions and assist with supervision of volunteers and mentoring of new associates. Is a collaborative team member.

Job Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

A.

Education:

Minimum CDA; 2 or 4 year degree in ECE preferred; or equivalent teaching experience B.

Experience:

2 years previous experience with young children preferred.
