Summary:
West Chester Area School District (WCASD) seeks reflective, student-centered educators who are committed to ensuring every graduate is prepared to thrive as a critical thinker, effective communicator, collaborator, responsible citizen, and lifelong learner. WCASD teachers design inclusive, rigorous learning experiences that empower students to apply knowledge, engage meaningfully with others, and contribute positively to their communities. Teachers in WCASD are not only instructors of content, but designers of learning who intentionally cultivate the competencies outlined in the District's Portrait of a Graduate through high-quality instruction, equitable practices, and strong relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Establish a classroom environment where all students feel valued, challenged, and supported. Integrate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections to support authentic learning and transfer. Use culturally responsive instructional strategies that honor students' identities, experiences, and perspectives. Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Communicate effectively with families and caregivers as partners in student learning. Engage in continuous professional learning aligned to district priorities and instructional best practices. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to improve instruction and student outcomes. Maintain accurate records related to instruction, assessment, and student progress. Uphold district policies, professional ethics, and Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements. Contribute positively to the school community and district culture. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred Possession of a valid Pennsylvania teaching certification appropriate to assignment OR the ability to obtain necessary emergency certification based on the district's needs Demonstrated commitment to equity-centered teaching and continuous improvement Strong instructional planning, classroom management, and communication skills
Reporting Relationships:
Teachers in WCASD report to school building administrators. Teachers in WCASD receive professional development and support from a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to curriculum supervisors, pupil services supervisors, and grade level and content level leaders. Regardless of their years of experience, teachers who are new to WCASD will participate in teacher induction, which is focused on how teacher looks specifically within our district.
Terms of Employment:
This position is a 10 month position. This position is represented by West Chester Area Education Association. The collective bargaining agreement for WCASD and WCAEA is available here:

to 2027.pdf. Starting salaries are determined based on relevant experience, education, and internal equity, and are generally set below the midpoint of the salary range. Process Individuals are invited to apply to all positions in which they are interested. Individuals are welcome to consider multiple offers. Once an individual commits to a teacher position in one location for the upcoming school year, they will not be eligible for other teacher positions within the district. In the event that a teacher has the opportunity to return to their previous assignment before June 30, 2026, regardless of their acceptance for their new position, they will be eligible to return.
