Substitute Teacher Criteria:
A.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's Degree in Education preferred for long term assignments. B.
Experience:
None. One year in similar position preferred. C.
Physical Requirements:
Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination. Frequent walking, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, and turning. Some lifting up to 30 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. D.
Other Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, email, and internet. Ability to keep student information confidential.
Essential Functions and Duties:
1. Responsible for the daily management and operations of assigned classroom in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. 2. Reviews with principal, or designee, all plans, duties, and schedules to be followed during the teaching day. 3. Teaches the outlined lesson as provided by the classroom teacher. 4. Maintains, as best as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom. 5. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which classroom teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates. 6. Communicates with the classroom teacher following the assignment. 7. Performs other duties as assigned.
