Fall 2026 Long Term Substitute - 3rd Grade Diocese of Dallas Schools Dallas, TX Job Details Full-time 4 hours ago Qualifications Student performance assessment strategies Childhood development Classroom behavior management Collaborative teaching Technical Proficiency Full Job Description General Summary of the Position The Long-Term Substitute Teacher provides instructional continuity and classroom leadership during a teacher's extended absence. This position is responsible for implementing established lesson plans, maintaining classroom routines, and supporting student learning in alignment with school policies, curriculum, and the mission of the school. The Long-Term Substitute Teacher reports to the principal and works collaboratively with administration, grade-level teams, and support staff to ensure a smooth instructional experience for students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school. Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Demonstrate respect for and openness to Catholic traditions, practices, and beliefs. Plan for instruction with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum and submit plans according to the school policies. Provide appropriate instruction and learning activities to support student engagement and understanding. Use effective instructional strategies and classroom management practices consistent with professional standards and school expectations. Administer and assess student work as directed, using both formative and summative assessment tools when applicable. Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and behavior documentation, in accordance with school policies. Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment. Practice consistent and appropriate discipline aligned with school guidelines. Communicate professionally with administration, support staff, and parents as directed regarding academic or behavioral concerns. Collaborate with grade-level or departmental teachers to ensure instructional continuity. Maintain a work schedule that supports student supervision and availability to staff and administration. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic understanding of the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques. Knowledge of child and adolescent development. Ability to follow established lesson plans and instructional guidelines. Ability to assess student work and provide meaningful feedback when required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing classroom needs. Skill in managing multiple tasks and maintaining organization. Skill in using job-appropriate technology. Professional judgment, flexibility, and reliability.Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in education, subject area taught, or a related field from an accredited American university, required Must meet minimum teaching requirements as set forth by the Diocese and TCCB ED. Classroom teaching experience preferred. Completion of required diocesan or school-mandated training and staff development.Special Requirements:
Preferred practicing Catholic in good standing. Must be willing and open to understanding Catholic teachings, required.
