Long-Term Substitute, First Grade Teacher Good Shepherd Episcopal School - 4.0 Dallas, TX Job Details Temporary 1 day ago Qualifications Childcare Teamwork Classroom management Early childhood education Bachelor's degree Teaching Full Job Description Good Shepherd Episcopal School is seeking a professional, positive, and collaborative individual for the position of First Grade Teacher, as a long-term substitute. This position will serve for 12 weeks, beginning on approximately August 10, 2026 and ending on November 20, 2026. The First Grade Teacher will plan, supervise, and implement the program for the first grade class in accordance with the policies, curriculum, and philosophy of the school and treat each child with dignity and respect. The teacher will provide not only for each child's academic needs but also help develop social and emotional maturity. In addition, the First Grade Teacher will assess and monitor student progress, maintain an orderly classroom, and revise and update the curriculum, as necessary. He or she will prepare report cards which include written comments, review student assessments and implement individual strategies for learning, and send timely, proactive, and regular communication with parents. The First Grade Teacher will attend all required meetings, public-relations events, and participate on school committees and in extra-curricular activities as required. He or she will uphold and support the mission of the Episcopal Church and the School, meet all teacher expectations and duties as outlined in the Employee Manual, and collaborate with colleagues while maintaining a positive team attitude. The ideal candidate is a strong, dedicated professional with an astute understanding of child development and how young children learn. The preferred qualifications for the ideal candidate are as follows:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university
  • Teacher certification
  • Experience as a homeroom teacher in elementary grades or early childhood preferred
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
