Non-Exempt Specifics forSubstitute Teacher:
Workdays are on an "as needed" basis, Monday through Friday. Valid ID required with background check. Hours are part-time - 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, no over-time. Must be enthusiastic with a happy disposition. Students must be picked up from their designated area (Gym, Commons or Hallway) at 7:30 am. Work Attire is Business Casual; Friday's are designated Jean Days.Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Under direction from the teacher, prepare worksheets and/or homework. Under direction from the teacher, correct classwork and homework and turn over to classroom teacher for evaluation. Assume responsibility for playground/gym activities during morning, noon, and/or afternoon recess periods. As required, assist children with special needs, i.e.: diaper changing; toilet training, and other needs. Review with children materials previously introduced by the classroom teacher. Provide one on one and/or small group tutorial services on specific topics as directed by teacher. Supervise the lunchroom / quiet time as needed. Conduct language and vocabulary development conversations whenever possible. Prepare visual aid and/or arts and crafts materials. Assume the operation of classroom "learning centers" where a variety of academic based activities are supervised while the classroom teacher does tutorial or small group speech, language or reading activities. Operate audio visual aids and equipment. Utilize available technology, (i.e. copier, computers, smart boards, FM systems, etc.).Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have a good disposition, be prompt and reliable. Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Experience working with a licensed day care facility or other substitute positions in public or private schools.Language Skills:
Must have good enunciation and communicate effectively with both teachers and students alike. Bilingual preferred.Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear and have good vision. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 0-40 lbs.
