Job Description

Staff substitutes will report to their assigned location every day for the 26-27 school year. Pay will be the long term substitute rate as listed below based on educational level. Staff substitutes will be assigned by administration to positions/classrooms needing coverage. This position does not come with benefits and staff substitutes are only paid for days worked according to the teacher calendar (not on holidays, inclement weather days, etc.). Must be 21 years of age.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher or paraprofessional.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies. Evidence of exemplary human relation skills. Evidence of exemplary organizational and planning skills. Evidence of ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervises student in a variety of school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of children. Teaches or assists in lessons and duties outlined in the absent teacher's lesson plans or as directed by the teacher if serving in a paraprofessional role. Assumes responsibility for pupil behavior in class, during lunch and recess periods, and during fire or other disaster drills. Possesses an ability to work effectively with students at all levels and to establish and maintain good rapport while working closely with other teacher and administrators.
