Job Description

The Goldfinch School is a premier preschool in Seattle, WA! We are looking for warm, reliable, and professional Substitute Teachers to join our team on an as-needed basis. Substitute Teachers play an essential role in maintaining continuity of care and learning when regular classroom teachers are absent. This position provides flexible opportunities to support our vibrant preschool community while working in a collaborative and nature-rich environment. What you'll do: Step into classrooms as needed to ensure smooth daily operations when staff are absent Follow daily classroom routines, lesson plans, and activities prepared by the Lead Teacher Engage children ages 2.5-5 in developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experiences that support early literacy, math, science, social-emotional growth, and the arts Maintain a safe, nurturing, and organized environment through active supervision and attention to routines Support snack and mealtime routines in accordance with WA State food safety guidelines Communicate thoughtfully with staff and families to support a warm, consistent school environment Adapt quickly to different classrooms and teaching teams while maintaining the school's values and approach Who you are: Dependable, flexible, and calm under pressure Warm, engaging, and attentive to the needs of young children Comfortable stepping into new environments and quickly establishing rapport with children and staff Professional in communication and demeanor with both colleagues and families Able to follow classroom routines and directions while also taking initiative when needed Have or are willing to obtain required certifications (Food Handler's Card, CPR/First Aid) Experience requirements: At least 18 years of age High school diploma or GED (required) At least 1 year of experience working with children ages 2-5 in a preschool, childcare, or related setting Cleared Portable Background Check Training requirements (must be completed before employment begins): First Aid/CPR Bloodborne Pathogens Food Handler's License. Nice to have (not required): ECE Initial or Short Certificate Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field Experience leading arts, language, or creative movement activities Why work with us?
