Job Description

SIA - Substitute Teacher Spokane International Academy is seeking dynamic and accomplished educators to assume positions as substitute teachers. This is a part time position with jobs selectable by subs on an as-needed basis. Spokane International Academy is a rigorous, K-12th grade, public charter school that empowers all students with academic skills, essential habits for success, and the global competence necessary to complete advanced courses in high school and college to become leaders who can powerfully transform their communities. In the absence of our regular teachers, substitutes will be responsible for: 1.) Curriculum Development and Instruction Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons to students. 2.) Classroom Management Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain a positive classroom environment through the use of appropriate guidance, discipline, and classroom management techniques consistent with current research and best practice. Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and foster a safe and supportive classroom climate. 3.) Student Assessment and Evaluation Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to guide their learning and improvement. 4.) Supporting Student Development Identify and support the individual needs of students, including those with IEP's, Multilingual learners, and students with 504's. Promote social-emotional learning and help students develop critical skills such as cooperation, problem solving, and self-regulation. Encourage and support positive interactions among students, fostering a sense of community within the classrooms. Advocate to improve equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree Valid WA state teaching or substitute credential Excellent communicator Demonstrated dynamic, positive qualities and personal characteristics necessary to build trust and effective working relationships with staff, parents, and students Experience that involves working to create a positive culture Passion for Spokane International Academy's mission, matched with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in charter schools and/or urban education Ability to communicate in language(s) other than
English Hiring Process:
