Applications are accepted at any time during the school year. The School District of Ashland is accepting substitute teacher applications for the 2026-27 school year.
Substitute Application Process:
Complete an online substitute application. (An applicant holding an associate's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university, but has not completed a state-approved educator preparation program is eligible to apply as a substitute teacher.) Our personnel department will review your application and determine current substitute needs. If hired as a substitute, we will provide you with a new hire paperwork packet and schedule an orientation / training session. Please be prepared to provide the following documents: Acceptable form(s) of identification. Direct deposit information (voided check or savings account slip). A current Wisconsin Teacher / Substitute License or Verification that the Wisconsin DPI Teacher / Substitute Application / transcript process has been initiated. Please Note:
Effective August of 2013, Wisconsin DPI teacher / substitute applicants who have resided/worked outside of Wisconsin must complete an electronic fingerprint procedure. •Substitute Teacher / Tutors must have a current Wisconsin DPI license before being placed in an assignment.
Note To All Substitutes:
We cannot predict nor guarantee the amount of time you will be called to be a substitute. Please be aware that when you are on our sub list, it does not guarantee a long-term sub assignment and/or permanent employment with the School District of Ashland. Substitutes will not be eligible to substitute with the School District of Ashland until all information is on file at the District Office and you have attended an orientation / training session, if applicable.
