Bilingual Paraprofessional Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Paraprofessional to provide support to English Language Learners (ELLs) and Spanish-speaking parents in our District. The ideal candidate will work closely with students to reinforce language skills, assist classroom teachers, and support the implementation of ESL instructional programs. Additionally, the ideal candidate would serve as the District's interpreter and translator to communicate with the district's non-English speaking parents. This role requires fluency in English and Spanish to effectively communicate and assist students in their language acquisition and academic progress.SUPERVISED BY/REPORTS TO
: English Second Language Lead TeacherQUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Fluency in English and at least one additional language spoken by the student population.
- Experience working with English Language Learners preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a passion for supporting diverse learners
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

An employee must meet these to perform the essential functions of this job successfully and satisfactorily.- Provide direct instructional support to ESL students under the guidance of the District ESL Specialist.
- Assist students in developing English language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation; report observations to the District ESL Specialist.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff in both English and the target bilingual language.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as directed by the District ESL Specialist.
- Assist with translating and interpreting as needed during meetings, events, or communications with families.
- Maintain a trustworthy, professional, and confidential relationship with families.
- Serve to help foster lasting relationships between FCS staff and EL families.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, attendance instructions, and school and district procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.OTHER REQUIRED

- Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.
- Ability to physically manage students and equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Employees .TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
: 9 -months (184 days) 6 hours per day.SALARY :
