Job Description

TITLE:
Paraprofessional/Bus Aide
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college documented on an official transcript. Successfully completed at least two years (48 semester hours) of study documented on an official transcript at an institution of higher education or obtained Level 3 on the following sections of the Work-Keys Assessment (Applied Math, Work Place Documents, Business Writing) determined by the Alabama Department of Education.

Teacher or Principal
JOB GOAL
To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Under supervision of licensed teacher, prepares for classroom activities. Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher. Assists individual children in need of special attention. Performs clerical duties. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher. Setup audiovisual equipment. Assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, restroom, and clothing routines. Assists in drill work. Assists with reading and storytelling. Assists small groups of students in the library. Participate in in-service training programs. Participates in staff development to be equipped with the skills required to assist teachers in carrying out district initiatives. Check notebooks, correct papers, and help supervise makeup work and testing as assigned by the supervising teacher: (the assistant teacher will not assign grades or confer with parents concerning grades. Alert the teacher to special needs of individual children. Performing other duties as specified by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-time-Nine (9) months.
SALARY:
Per Salary Schedule. Continent on Grant Funding Availability
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance to provision of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
