Position Description
POSITION TITLE
Dyslexia Paraprofessional FLSA:
Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold proper state certification.
REPORTS TO
Principal and District Dyslexia Coordinator
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
185 day contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Implement the district's identified dyslexia intervention program with fidelity. 2. Administer and interpret assessment data and provide intensive intervention and monitor student progress. 3. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and District Dyslexia Coordinator to analyze data for the purpose of identifying struggling students' needs, and setting learning goals to support continued academic growth in reading. 4. Coordinate the schedule of services for students identified as having the characteristics of dyslexia. 5. Deliver targeted dyslexia intervention through one-to-one and small group instruction by using appropriate supplemental intervention materials approved by the district. 6. Consistently monitor, assess and encourage individual student progress and program effectiveness. 7. Participate in professional development training of reading and dyslexia programs as initiated by the district. 8. Support and promote the district's mission, vision and values.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. 2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors. 3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. 5. Serve on committees as assigned. 6. Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
