Graduate Arkansas, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs and disabilities. The Special Education Paraprofessional will work under the supervision of licensed special education teachers to provide instructional support, implement individualized education programs (IEPs), and assist with behavior management strategies. This position will support both in-person and virtual learning environments, help students access the general education curriculum, and promote student independence and success. Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting students in dyslexia intervention, Section 504 plan implementation, English Language Learner (ELL/ESOL) services, or reading intervention.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct instructional support to students with disabilities under the supervision of special education teachers Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs and 504 plans Assist students with academic tasks, organizational skills, and assignment completion Support students during transitions between classes, activities, and learning environments Collect and document data on student progress, behavior, and IEP goal achievement Assist with personal care needs and mobility support as required Implement behavior intervention plans and positive behavior support strategies Facilitate peer interactions and social skill development Adapt instructional materials and technology to meet individual student needs Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and special education services Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices Participate in IEP meetings and professional development as requestedQUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent (required) Associate degree or 48 college credit hours preferred Completion of paraprofessional assessment or meet Arkansas highly qualified standards Experience working with students with disabilities preferred Experience with one or more of the following strongly preferred: dyslexia intervention, Section 504 plan support, ELL/ESOL instruction, or reading intervention Familiarity with structured literacy approaches (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or other Science of Reading-aligned programs) is a plus Knowledge of special education practices and assistive technology helpful Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, empathy, and commitment to supporting diverse learners Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teaching staff Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with student positioning and transfers Ability to pass criminal background check and child maltreatment registry check This position combines educational support expertise with compassionate care to help students with disabilities achieve their full potential in academic and social settings.ENVIRONMENT
