SUMMARY:

To assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the teacher in planning and implementing the activities/work assignments for individual students, e.g., individuals and small groups. Follow a lesson plan, chart or guide created by teacher(s) and/or instructional assistant. Moves about classroom to help students and provide support. Assist the teacher in evaluating the progress of students. Assist teacher in maintaining positive behavior and control to ensure student safety. Maintain adequate and legible records concerning students whom they support. Respond to new ideas, methods and suggestions from teachers and aides. Consult frequently with the teacher about the needs, suggestions, questions, problems and progress of students. Demonstrate professional and flexible attitude/rapport with other staff members. Demonstrate appropriate interaction with the students in the learning environment. Assist the teacher(s) with preparation of instructional materials. Maintain all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community members. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Remain current in existing and emerging technology and software. Other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or G.E.D. AA degree OR 60 college credit hours OR successful completion of Dysart approved exam. Experience in K-12 public education preferred.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS

Obtain and maintain a Valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ

IVP FPCC

).

KNOWLEDGE OF

Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work. Basic mathematical, reading and writing concepts. Filing and record-keeping principles. Uses and properties of supplies and equipment. Customer service principles. Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment. Modern office technology.

SKILL IN

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work:

Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
