Immediately Job Description Summary/Objective Assists certified educators in implementing physical education programs, setting up equipment, and supervising students. Focus on adapting activities, ensuring safety, and building gross motor skills, particularly for students with special needs. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: Assist teachers in leading physical education lessons, sports drills, warm-ups, and game activities for individuals or small groups. Monitor students in gyms, fields, or locker rooms, ensuring safety protocols are followed and resolving conflicts. Operate and care for equipment used for instructional purposes Work directly with students with disabilities to modify physical exercises, use adaptive equipment, and reach individualized education program (IEP) goals. Set up, organize, sanitize, and store athletic equipment such as balls, cones, mats, and nets. Take attendance, record physical progress, and help create a positive, inclusive environment. Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch/breakfast periods, field trips, crossing guard, bus assistant, after school activities, school gate duty Alert the teacher to any problem or special information about a student Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations, and rules Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner Other Duties This job description is not a comprehensive listing of duties, responsibilities, or activities that are required of the employee for this job. Work Environment This job operates in a school environment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information with faculty, students, and visitors. Ability to position self as needed in line with safety guidelines to complete tasks. Due to the nature of the subject, the role requires frequent physical activity. Specialists must be able to stand, walk, run, bend, crouch, and regularly lift or move equipment weighing up to 50lbs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work At-Will Notice of Employment does not provide a guarantee of a particular schedule of work or a minimum number of days or hours. Typically, these are 10-month, 40-hour per week positions. This position is eligible for medical benefits. Employee will regularly work ten hours per day Monday through Thursday during core business hours. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent AA degree, 60 college credits from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an Arizona state-approved competency exam (ParaPro) Preferred Education and Experience Working with students or children. Required Certifications/Licenses May require First Aid/CPR certification and/or QBS Safety Care training Work Authorization/Security Clearance Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with a Level I IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
