Teacher Assistant Child Life Learning Center Bakersfield, CA Job Details Part-time From $17 an hour 15 hours ago Qualifications School experience Working with students Student support Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our vibrant educational team. In this role, you will work closely with lead teachers to support classroom activities, foster a positive learning environment, and assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse needs. Your energy and enthusiasm will help create an engaging space where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Responsibilities Support lead teachers in delivering curriculum tailored to early childhood development, literacy, math, and social skills. Assist with classroom management by maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive environment for children of various abilities. Implement lesson plans and activities designed to meet individual student needs, including those with autism or developmental disabilities. Use communication skills such as American Sign Language or other methods to facilitate effective interaction with students who have communication challenges. Help monitor and document student progress, behavior management strategies, and IEP goals to ensure personalized support. Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and physical development, including toddler care and preschool routines. Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop curriculum modifications and behavioral interventions that support each child's growth. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in early childhood education, preschool settings, or special education environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles, classroom management techniques, and behavior management strategies. Familiarity with Deaf education, working with individuals with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and implementing IEPs is advantageous. Proficiency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, teachers, and specialists. Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and Montessori or preschool methodologies is desirable. Ability to work collaboratively within a team dedicated to inclusive education and childcare excellence.
