$18 - $21 (DOE) Job Summary The Beacon's Creative Arts workshops were created to help artists develop ties with the community-at-large through options such as mentoring, art festivals, gallery showings, group projects, and so much more. The program includes two focal components: artistic expression and exploration, and development of artistic enterprises. Key Responsibilities The Associate Instructor will support and assist the lead instructor in the Creative Arts workshops by supporting trainees with onsite instruction, in addition to this there may be activities that also include teaming up with other instructors during group lessons. They will provide instruction on the tools and processes to support activities, and help trainees out in the community. Associate instructors will optimize the learning experiences and growth of all artists in the studio and use their creativity to develop teaching tools to help optimize the learning of individuals with mild/moderate learning disabilities. Responsibilities & Qualifications Demonstrated success working with individuals with mild/moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities Demonstrated experience in the creative arts (either through personal experience and/or within a business or instructional environment). Evaluation and implementation of assistive technology and/or other accommodations or modifications necessary for a participant to more successfully access the program and curriculum Collaborating with staffing teams and leadership on scheduling, community activities, transportation, and other activities to support the division. Proficient with education-related programs and tools (such as Google Suite, Kahoot, Zoom, and Canva) Innovative "outside the box" thinking to help create tools or materials to help trainees learn and retain subject matter taught Successful completion of a LiveScan background check Must possess a valid California driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. This role requires weekly driving of participants to and from community-based activities and local event sites. Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required for associate instructor position Teaching credential not required, although teaching skills are essential Excellent interpersonal skills to work with our trainees, families, community members, and agency representatives.
