Job Description
This position is responsible for providing comprehensive support to FoodLink's DEEP Roots programming. Primary responsibilities include managing compost and food waste recovery operations. Additionally, this role provides critical support to the Program Coordinator by assisting with the implementation of programs and workshops, and helping the Community/Home Garden Liaison and Demonstration Garden Liaison fulfill their duties to ensure the team's success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Compost & Food Waste Management:
- Respectfully and professionally represents FoodLink and its programs at all times.
- Manages and maintains all compost systems, including monitoring pile health, turning, watering, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinates the collection and processing of food waste for composting in collaboration with warehouse staff.
- Tracks and records data related to compost production and food waste diversion.
Program & Workshop Support:
- Provides direct support to the Program Coordinator in the planning, setup, and execution of community workshops and events.
- Assists the Community/Home Garden Liaison and Demonstration Garden Liaison with tasks as needed, providing backup support and ensuring program goals are met.
- Helps maintain the DEEP Roots demonstration garden and supports community/home garden sites as assigned.
- Supports volunteer groups during garden workdays and compost-related activities.
Administrative & Operational Duties:
- Maintains positive, collaborative relationships with all staff, community partners, and volunteers.
- Attends relevant team meetings and trainings.
- Maintains inventory and manages supplies for compost and program activities.
- Other duties as assigned to support the overall function of the DEEP Roots programs.
