Job Description
Position Summary South Coast Montessori seeks an assistant teacher to support our Elementary classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant, mission-driven school community on a lovely nine-acre campus in Southern California. We offer beautifully and thoughtfully prepared indoor and outdoor environments that inspire curiosity, independence, and joyful learning. At South Coast Montessori, you'll be supported by a collaborative team, strong administrative leadership, and a community deeply committed to authentic Montessori pedagogy. Key Responsibilities Monitor student well-being and safety at all times. Handle minor conflicts with grace, courtesy, and Montessori-aligned guidance. Communicate thoughtfully with colleagues, families, and students. Maintain a clean, prepared environment ensuring materials and spaces reflect Montessori attention to order and respect. Support lead teacher/guide, occasional 1 on 1 skill development with students, various support duties as needed during the school day. Preferred Qualifications AMI Elementary Diploma (or in progress) or an interest in a Montessori career. Strong understanding and passion for Montessori education for children ages 6-12. Dedication to professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ability to build supportive, positive relationships with students and families. Spanish speaking a plus.
