The toddler teacher will plan age-appropriate lessons and employ a range of instructional techniques and strategies to enhance student progress and establish a productive classroom environment. The principal duties of the toddler teacher includes: conduct focused observations of children, develop action plans, carry out activities daily and evaluate the effectiveness of child development activities, ensure the safety and well-being of the children. They will also keep parents informed of program activities, events; and the progress of their children, particularly with developmental progress by utilizing HiMama App. Duties and responsibilities
  • Plan, implement and direct the daily operation of a toddler program providing supervision and age-appropriate activities for all children to meet cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developmental milestones
  • Incorporates STEAM actives, fine motor and motor gross skills in daily schedule
  • Engage a group of toddlers on daily basis, imparting education and social skills in a friendly and engaging manner
  • Bring innovation in education, make learning fun and engaging for the toddlers
  • Conduct group activities and provide one-on-one trainings for targeted self-help skills/development in the toddlers
  • Communicate effectively with the parents, counsel them if needed and discuss the progress of children efficiently especially in potty-training
  • Provide daily care individually to each toddler, including but not limited to diaper changing every 2 hours or as needed
  • Ensures children have adequate supplies from home, such as diaper cream, wipes, and diapers
  • Prepares development milestones (every 6 months)
  • Monitors naptime and oversees sleeping patterns
  • Instill social values like empathy, sharing, honesty, gratitude, forgiveness, and Christian values
  • Plan and submit monthly activities based on weekly STEAM lesson plan rooted in the biblical curriculum targeted for the month
  • Maintain a variety of records including emergency information, student medication, accidents and minor injuries, first aid and student discipline/behavior
  • Maintain student and school information in a confidential manner
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents, staff, and the community
  • Contribute to the operations of the center by participating in staff meetings and sharing information gained through attendance at workshops and professional readings
  • Recognize, correct and/or report any condition or practice which could jeopardize the safety or well-being of a child
  • Organize and supervise children in playground and classroom activities in a safe manner
  • Maintain records and logs regarding children's schedule of activities, nutrition, and health; communicate with parents regarding daily activities and/or concerns utilizing HiMama app
  • Maintain classroom in a sanitary, neat, and orderly manner including, sanitizing diaper changing area; cleaning and disinfecting play areas; cleaning serving and eating areas after meals; washing dishes, towels, and other laundry; organizing play areas; arranges classroom displays and bulletin boards
  • Inspect the school site and equipment for potential safety hazards; taking corrective action or informing the Director to prevent injuries
  • Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or other special needs, and report these signs immediately to the Directors
  • Use equipment and supplies safely and conscientiously, keeping physical environment clean and orderly
  • Always maintain confidentiality of child and family information
  • Perform related duties as assigned Physical / Mental Requirements
  • Able to observe, hear, and respond to children's needs, emergencies, and conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on the playground, bathroom, or other common areas
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. from the floor to waist-high table multiple times per day
  • Able to quickly react to a child within 30 feet away without danger to the staff's health
  • Able to squat to a child's height, maintain eye contact at child's level, sit on the floor, and stand tall enough to react children on the highest piece of equipment
  • Able to determine cognitive, social, and physical needs of children, and to communicate both in writing and verbally in the English language at a level the teacher and other administrative can understand and respond to
  • Able to handle highs and lows that occur within the childcare industry Minimum qualifications Education and Experience
  • Associates degree or equivalent (60 units)
  • 12 core units in ECE including: Growth and Child Development, Child, Family and the Community, Curriculum, and Infant/Toddler Development.
  • At least one year of paid verifiable experience working with Toddlers Licenses and Requirements
  • Willingness to obtain valid permit issued by the California State Commission for
Teacher Preparation:
Child Development Teacher Permit
  • Valid CPR and First Aid or willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Valid identification and proof of employment authorization
Knowledge of:
  • Basic needs and characteristics of infants/toddlers
  • Basic subjects taught in schools including, arithmetic, art, reading, and writing
  • Instructional techniques and strategies
  • Laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to assignment
  • Behavior management techniques and strategies
  • Learning activities appropriate to infants/toddlers
  • Basic computer, internet, and mobile application skills
  • Oral and written communication skills; Correct English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation and vocabulary
  • Childcare principles and procedure
  • STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Ability to:
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Work cooperatively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Determine the needs and understand the behavior of children
