Child Development Associate Teacher Hours:
40 hours per week (weekends and late nights may be required; schedules change based on needs of the program) Reports To:
Children's Services Program Manager Job Summary:
Promotes a safe, health, and nurturing atmosphere for children which allows parents the opportunity to access programs within the organization in accordance with their case plan. Responsible for developing and implementing age appropriate curricula. Assesses students' progress. Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement plans for individual children based on assessment. Assists children with physical, social, and behavioral needs. Maintains effective communications with parents. Essential Functions:
Maintain Confidentiality Treat children, parents, and staff with dignity and respect. Ability to transition and work with different age groups when needed. Discuss with parents on children's progress and needs. Discuss with Mental Health Staff on individual children's progress and needs. Develop behavioral plans for children based on discussions with Mental Health, parents, and other sources related to working with the child. Develop and plan activities for parents to do with their children while completing parent participation activities. Ensure that all Licensing Regulations specific to classroom operations are maintained in the child care program at all times. Ensure the health and safety of the children. Inform Program Supervisor of any health or safety issues with equipment or in the environment immediately. Guide and be a source of information to interns and students working in the classroom. Understand children's stages of growth and development while staying current with best practices and theories in the Child Development community. Use non-punitive methods of discipline and offer guidance to children in a positive manner. Provide care to daily child needs including: diapering, feeding, rocking, comforting, toilet training, and other similar tasks. Assist in supervision, support, and daily direction of volunteers. Assist in daily direction of clients completing chore tasks in classrooms. Assist in on-the-job training of new staff. Assist the Program Supervisor in assessing and developing new program needs. Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, décor, and cleanliness of the classroom. Design a goal-directed program for each age group which addresses cognitive, motor, language, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of the children. Encourage children to make appropriate decisions. Maintain a friendly and professional relationship with parents and co-workers. Participate in recommended and required training programs where appropriate. Knowledge of community care licensing guidelines. Plan, supervise, and implement age appropriate programs and activities for groups of children in accordance with Children's Services policies and procedures. Provide written and oral reports of serious incidents and behaviors to Program Supervisor. Provide written purposeful monthly lesson plans to Program Supervisor in a timely manner. Provide written articles for use in monthly newsletters or other program needs in a timely manner upon request. Use resources, supplies, and equipment of the Village in a cost effective, safe, and responsible manner. Inform Program Supervisor of equipment or supplies that need to be replaced or purchased for classroom use. Perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. May be required to participate in Village-wide activities and/or committees. • High school diploma or GED 12 core units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), including child growth and development, child/family/community, and program/curriculum 3 units in Infant/Toddler Development Associate Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) One year of experience working in a licensed childcare setting or equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the requirements for an Associate Teacher Permit Additional Requirements:
Fingerprint clearance through DOJ and FBI and approval by California Community Care Licensing Current CPR and First Aid certification Proof of immunization for Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles Physical and TB clearance Skills and Attributes:
