Strong English skills, with the ability to read English textbooks, handouts, and student assignments. Ability to communicate clearly in both English and Mandarin Chinese with students, parents, and the academic team. Responsible, detail-oriented, patient, and willing to work with middle school and high school students. Strong execution skills and time management skills, with the ability to complete tasks on time. Familiar with Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other office tools. Stable availability for in-person work in Irvine preferred. Prior experience as a teaching assistant, tutor, learning coach, or at a tutoring center preferred. Familiarity with the U.S. middle school and high school education system, especially Irvine / Orange County schools, is preferred. Responsibilities Supervise middle school and high school students' daily homework, including homework completion, corrections, and study progress tracking. Support students with very basic English learning, such as looking up vocabulary, reading articles, reading essays, understanding simple sentence structures, and building foundational English skills. Develop basic English improvement plans for students based on their current English level, especially in vocabulary, reading, and writing foundations. Assist lead teachers with classroom preparation, including printing materials, organizing handouts, distributing class materials, and providing in-class support. Monitor students while they complete assignments and provide timely feedback on their classroom performance and learning habits. Be familiar with the Irvine middle school and high school education system, and assist with preparing student grade reports, homework tracking reports, and progress reports. Communicate with parents in both English and Mandarin Chinese regarding students' learning progress, classroom behavior, homework completion, and areas for improvement. Work closely with the academic team to report student learning issues, classroom performance, and parent concerns. Maintain a positive classroom environment and help students build strong study habits, time management skills, and academic discipline. Preferred Qualifications Experience studying in or supporting U.S. middle school or high school courses. Experience helping students with basic English, homework supervision, and study habit development. Ability to help students organize vocabulary lists, reading notes, and essay draft feedback. Experience preparing student progress reports, grade tracking sheets, and parent feedback notes. Stable availability on weekends and during winter or summer programs. Long-term interest in education, teaching, curriculum development, or student management.
