In El Jardín , students will study thematic units, Spanish vocabulary, outdoor learning, sustainability, gardening and art
- all in a Spanish immersion environment.
Each class is led by one of our native Spanish-speaking teachers and supported by amazing Spanish speaking Assistants. " The DNA of El Jardin is to incorporate Spanish immersion with gardening and art to create a program that really encompasses the culture of California ." Megan Moreno, Director of Lanterns Global Duties & Responsibilities You will be responsible for supporting the Head Teacher and managing your class group during El Jardín while speaking in Spanish roughly 90% of the time (immersion). This includes supporting with the following: morning introductions, calendario, song, teaching new Spanish vocabulary, directing the activity that incorporates those new words, leading the gardening and farming activities, organizing clean-up, overseeing students during lunch-time, recess time, and play time, managing siesta, facilitating art, continually checking for understanding, and being creative on-the-spot to make the most of learning moments for students to learn, understand, have fun, and appreciate Spanish language and culture. Skills & Competencies Being a kind, assertive leader and self-starter. Fluent Spanish speaker/writer. Excels at teaching, creating fun, wonder, and joy in students. Eager to "get dirty" alongside the students in play. A highly motivated, organized, and creative individual who enjoys exceeding expectations. Experience with teaching and managing groups of children, compassionate communicator. Good communicator to students, other teachers, and parents during drop-off and pick-up. Enjoys being with children, experience with teaching and managing groups of children, and a desire to come alongside students to help them learn. Able to store, carry, and transport El Jardín teaching materials, as need be. Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to walk long distances if need be. Enjoy being out in the open in nature. Able to work in the heat/sun. Physically and mentally able to respond quickly in the event of an emergency. Strong classroom management skills. A great team player who can work well with others. Demonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism, energy, fun, kindness, musicality, and Latina culture. An honest, good, and quick communicator with the management team.
Class Times:
Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm . Our Assistant Teachers are required to be arrive onsite at 9:30am for set-up; shift ends approx. 15 minutes later (once all the students have been checked out) Fall semester 2026 will include 15 weeks: Aug 24
