Our play-based, nature-inspired program serves infants, toddlers and preschoolers through joyful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. As a CCTR-funded program, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, early childhood care and education for all children. We are looking for a positive, experienced and hands-on Assistant Director of Program Quality & Teacher Support to help strengthen our classrooms, support teachers and build program capacity. Position Summary The Assistant Director of Program Quality & Teacher Support is a full-time, non-exempt leadership position with an annual earning potential of approximately $72,800 - $80,080 based on a 40-hour workweek. This role supports classroom quality, teacher development, curriculum implementation, child assessment, compliance and daily program operations. The Assistant Director works closely with the Program Director to ensure that the Twigs to Trees vision is carried out consistently across infant, toddler and preschool classrooms. This position provides teacher coaching, classroom observations, DRDP support, curriculum guidance, classroom coverage and daily support to staff. The Assistant Director also serves as the designated person in charge in the Director's absence. The ideal candidate is positive, dependable, organized, emotionally mature and solution-oriented. They are excited to help build systems, support teachers and strengthen a growing early childhood program. Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Lead by example through positivity, professionalism, consistency and a growth mindset. Support the Program Director in carrying out the vision, values and expectations of Twigs to Trees Child Development Center. Serve as the designated person in charge in the Director's absence. Provide daily guidance, support and coaching to teachers and aides. Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback aligned with a play-based, nature-inspired program and the Reggio Emilia approach. Support teachers with lesson planning, child assessment, classroom routines, documentation and family engagement. Model calm, respectful communication and effective conflict resolution. Program Quality & Compliance Support high-quality infant, toddler and preschool programming. Help ensure compliance with CCTR, Title 5, Title 22, ECERS/ITERS and CLASS expectations. Support completion of DRDPs, ASQs, child portfolios and summaries of findings. Assist teachers in using observation data to plan meaningful curriculum experiences. Monitor classroom environments, lesson plans, documentation and daily routines. Support classroom coverage, staffing plans and ratio compliance as needed. Assist with
IEP/IFSP
implementation and inclusive classroom practices. Support behavior guidance plans and teacher follow through for children needing additional support. Maintain health, safety and sanitation standards throughout the center. Family & Community Engagement Communicate with families in a warm, professional and respectful manner. Support parent communication through Learning Genie, email and in person interactions. Partner with the Program Director on sensitive family concerns and child support plans. Assist with family engagement activities, PAC meetings and center-wide events. Operations & Administration Support staffing schedules, classroom coverage and ratio compliance. Assist with onboarding, training and support of teachers and aides. Support staff coaching, feedback and professional growth plans. Maintain accurate program records, logs and classroom documentation. Assist with coverage filling, attendance, meal count and CACFP documentation systems as needed. Help keep the center organized, licensing-ready and prepared for monitoring visits. Culture & Collaboration Inspire positivity, teamwork and professionalism among staff. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience BA or higher in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred. Must meet Title 22 fully qualified teacher requirements. Must have at least 12 units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development coursework plus three (3) units of supervised field experience in an ECE setting. Must include at least six (6) units in Infant/Toddler Development or Care required for CCTR-funded programs. At least 5 years teaching in an ECE program required. At least 2 years supervising, coaching or mentoring staff in an ECE program required. Experience with infant, toddler and preschool classrooms strongly preferred. Experience with CCTR, Title 5, Title 22, DRDP and state-funded early childhood programs strongly preferred. Licenses and Requirements Must be qualified to serve as the designated person in charge in the Director's absence. Child Development Site Supervisor Permit, Program Director Permit or Child Care Center Director qualifications preferred. Valid CPR and First Aid Certification required or willingness to obtain prior to employment. Familiarity with CLASS, ECERS/ITERS, DRDP, ASQ, CDMIS and CCTR preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Criminal record clearance, health screening and TB clearance required prior to employment. Terms of Employment Twelve-month work year Full-time position Non-exempt hourly leadership position Reports to the Program Director Serves as designated person in charge in the Director's absence Supports, coaches and supervises teachers, teacher's aides and staff as assigned Compensation $35.00 - $38.50 per hour, based on education, qualifications and experience. This position has an annual earning potential of approximately $72,800 - $80,080 based on a 40-hour workweek.
