Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Paraprofessional and Behavior Specialist near Long Beach, CA. Your expertise will help foster a positive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive. This position is a dynamic chance to apply your behavioral intervention skills and collaborate closely with educators and students. Ideal candidates are passionate about special education, demonstrate patience, and are committed to supporting diverse learners. You'll work in a school setting, engaging directly with students to guide their day-to-day growth academically, socially, and behaviorally.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a paraprofessional, behavior specialist, or similar school-based support role Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies and best practices Ability to implement individualized student plans with guidance from teachers and specialists Excellent interpersonal and communication skills High school diploma or GED required; additional certification or training in behavioral support is a plus Strong teamwork mentality, adaptability, and a genuine interest in student success
Responsibilities:
Support students one-on-one or in small groups to promote positive academic and social outcomes Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviors and engaging students Implement and document behavioral plans under the supervision of special education and intervention staff Collect data on student progress and contribute to individualized education plans Model positive behaviors and encourage self-advocacy in students Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning atmosphere This contract role offers the unique opportunity to make a lasting difference for students and educators.
