Primary Responsibility:
Assistant teachers provide important support for teachers in and out of the classroom. While assisting teachers with activities, classroom instruction and playground supervision, assistant teachers greatly enhance the educational experience of our students.
Teaching:
  • Work with the lead teacher during direct instruction and guided practice.
  • Embrace any and all opportunities to lead the classroom in instruction.
  • Show a willingness to cover other classes when needed.
  • Comfortable overseeing large and small groups of students with academic instruction.
  • Lead teach classroom as a substitute when need arises.
Classroom Support:
  • Active involvement in working with students.
  • Create materials, organize academic materials and assist with general clerical tasks.
  • Work side-by-side with teachers in addressing student concerns both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Escort students to campus locations including specialists, recess and lunch.
  • Maintain a high level of respect and decorum from the students.
Playground Support:
  • Actively oversee student interactions on the playground.
  • Report concerns to lead teachers.
  • Deal directly with student issues the moment they occur.
  • Hold students to a high standard of behavior and respect.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • CA Teaching Credential or an interest in acquiring a credential.
  • Strong desire to work in an academic setting with elementary age students.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Comfortable working in a Christian school environment.
  • Passion to see young people be successful.
  • Patient, authoritative and dependable.
  • A team player who is not afraid to ask questions.

$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
