Behavioral Paraprofessional:
Responsibilities:
  • Main focus in behavior interventions and behavioral support
  • Commonly working one on one with a student with behavioral challenges. Responsibility to follow the BIP (Behavioral Intervention Plan with Fidelity)
  • Must Report to the SPED Director and direct supervisors such as Ed Specialists and School Psychologist
  • Behavior intervention, support with initiation of tasks inside the classroom, reinforcing learning concepts, and assisting/modeling life skills (main focus behavior over academic, but can provide academic supports)
  • Assisting in behavior management when necessary
  • must be comfortable with managing a variety of maladaptive behaviors and implementing behavior strategies
  • includes following Behavior
  • Assist students in pull out services (SAI, Speech, OT, PT, APE, etc.)
  • Intervention Plans and utilizing ABA strategies with the support and training of Ed. Specialist, SPED Director, School Psychologist, and BCBA
  • Attend weekly team meetings and attend school Professional Developments (only those that are mandatory)
  • Taking notes, conducting observations, and collecting data on students, to support the Ed. Specialist with planning instruction and revising behavior plan
  • May toilet and assist with bathroom needs or other health procedures with support and training of the RN and Health Tech (as needed)

  • Special Education Instructional Aide Responsibilities:
  • Main focus is supporting the Education Specialist in providing Specialized Academic Intervention in a pull or push model
  • Must be comfortable leading small groups and hold knowledgeable of the best practices to support academic intervention
  • Must be willing to collaborate with Ed Specialist in planning interventions and grouping
