One of 58 counties in California, Contra Costa County serves the 11th largest public-school student population in the state, supporting approximately 169,394 students. Qualifications Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of college level coursework in child development or related field.
• One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience working with children with special education needs in an organized setting.
• A written proficiency test is required for applicants who do not meet one of the following requirements: Verification of 48 semester units post high school, OR Possession of an AA degree or higher.
• Fluency in sign language (ASL) preferred
• Employment is contingent upon satisfactory Physical Strength Testing results.
