DEFINITION
Under supervision, to assist teachers in classroom and resource room operations and routing instructional support; to instruct and reinforce instruction of students individually and in small groups in accordance with instructions; to provide instructional record keeping support; to perform routine clerical duties; and to perform related work as required.

Essential Elements:

Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Completion of a minimum of 48 semester units or AA Degree, AS Degree or higher degree. Any combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of this position. A typical qualifying entrance background is experience working with children in a learning environment. Successfully pass the Garvey School District Application Screening Process and the District Proficiency Test. Completion of a Criminal Records Check will be required prior to beginning work.
Desirable:
Bilingual in English and in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese Requirements / Qualifications

- AND•Completion of two years of higher education study (minimum of 48 semester units)•OR•Possess an Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Science degree or higher degree.
- OR•Must have passed PTAP, the Garvey School District Local Assessment that was previously offered.
- Any combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of this position.
- A typical qualifying entrance background is experience working with children in a learning environment.
- Must successfully pass the Garvey School District Written Test.
Desirable:
Bilingual in English and in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and/or Vietnamese. TESTING Applicants who pass the application screening process will be notified and scheduled for a written test.
