Job Purpose:
The ideal inclusion assistant wholeheartedly believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of REAL Journey Schools and exhibits this through their development, reflection, implementation of school culture and collaboration to ensure student success. The Special Education Assistant assists the classroom teacher and school service providers by providing support to an individual student or group with disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide assistance with: tests, homework, program reviews, reports, student files, schedules, and any other instructional program assignments as directed by the supervising teacher and in accordance with IEP Promotes student skill acquisition by teaching age-appropriate and functional replacement behaviors to students. Use a combination of approaches to address a student's target behaviors in order to form and strengthen replacement behaviors. Provide systematic process of studying and modifying observable behavior through a manipulation of the environment. The focus of this teaching method is to teach the child specific skills he/she needs to be successful with the goal that the child will learn and independently initiate acquired skills. Participates in individual student IEP meetings and prepares and presents appropriate as directed by the administrator. Completes and maintains required documentation for the school, students, and families. Monitor and support Behavior Intervention Plans Progress reporting on daily basis and weekly behavior charting. Provide individual, small group services Build strong relationships with students and parents Establish an environment where students are excited about learning and preparing for future. Collaborates with school staff in behavioral support Regular attendance, dependability and punctuality in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position. Assists student (including physical assistance as needed) with fine motor tasks and mobility if needed Other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
High School degree or equivalent Bachelor's in Education or related field Physical demands: Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects Occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping and reaching for extended periods of time Physical ability to bend over, squat, stand and sit for periods of time, and move with some speed Occasional computer work including but not limited to typing
