Examples of Duties:
The 11-month California State Preschool Program (CSPP) Resource Teacher provides instructional, programmatic, and compliance support to California State Preschool Program (CSPP) classrooms and staff. This position serves as a resource to teachers, site administrators, and support staff to ensure high-quality implementation of preschool programs aligned with state requirements and district expectations. Key responsibilities include supporting compliance with California Department of Education and Community Care Licensing regulations; monitoring program quality; assisting with health, safety, and licensing requirements; and providing guidance related to enrollment, documentation, and other program requirements. The CSPP Resource Teacher also plans and facilitates professional learning for preschool staff, including training and coaching related to curriculum implementation, the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), child development, classroom environments, family engagement, inclusion practices, health and safety, and other early childhood education topics. The Resource Teacher collaborates with site staff and district departments to strengthen instructional practices and promote continuous program improvement across CSPP classrooms. Project Resource Teacher assigned to support Early Learning is responsible for collaborating closely with CSPP teachers, instructional assistants, site administrators, Early Learning Department staff, Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) staff, enrollment and compliance personnel, and other district departments as needed to support program implementation and continuous improvement. The position requires frequent communication with teachers, administrators, and district staff through in-person meetings, email, virtual meetings, written guidance, and professional development sessions. The Resource Teacher is expected to maintain regular communication with school sites and provide timely responses to requests for support and technical assistance. The incumbent will be expected to: Conduct classroom visits to provide instructional coaching and support related to curriculum implementation, child development, classroom environments, and developmentally appropriate practices. Assist teachers and administrators with implementation of the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), curriculum, assessment practices, family engagement strategies, and inclusion of children with diverse learning needs. Provide guidance and technical assistance regarding California Department of Education (CDE) requirements, Community Care Licensing regulations, health and safety practices, program documentation, and CSPP compliance requirements. Monitor program implementation and review classroom, child, and program records to ensure compliance with state and district requirements. Develop and facilitate professional learning opportunities for preschool staff on topics such as curriculum, DRDP, CLASS, health and safety, licensing requirements, inclusion practices, social-emotional development, and other early childhood education topics. Assist with onboarding and mentoring new preschool staff. Support program quality improvement efforts through data collection, classroom observations, coaching cycles, and follow-up support. Participate in department meetings, site meetings, professional learning communities, and district committees as assigned. Assist with state reviews, audits, licensing visits, and annual reporting requirements. Support implementation of district initiatives and strategic priorities related to early learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Direct experience working in a California State Preschool Program (CSPP) as a teacher, site administrator, or program administrator. Candidates must possess a strong understanding of CSPP requirements, California Department of Education regulations, Community Care Licensing requirements, and developmentally appropriate practices for preschool-aged children. Candidates must also demonstrate experience providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development to teachers and support staff. Experience facilitating adult learning, supporting curriculum implementation, and guiding staff in the use of child assessment tools, such as the DRDP, is highly desirable. Additional required experience includes planning and implementing family engagement activities and events; supporting inclusive early learning environments; monitoring program quality and compliance; analyzing program and assessment data; and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for young children and families.
