The position involves working one-to-one with students in grades K through post-secondary with significant communication and sensory processing needs. Teaching assistants work both on campus and in the community. The class size is small (only 6 students per room). Our students are profoundly impacted by autism and require highly individualized and adaptive services. The ideal Teaching Assistant candidate will have a demonstrated ability to redirect challenging behavior and focus students on their IEP goals to deliver an exemplary educational and therapeutic school experience. The Creekside School is highly collaborative and eclectic. We implement multiple models of individualized instruction and behavior intervention for students with autism. We are looking for candidates who can utilize their communication skills and individual creativity to support our students. This position is ideal for experienced behavior intervention paraprofessionals who thrive in a fast-paced school environment and want to learn from colleagues of diverse disciplines in special education. We are seeking reflective professionals who question the efficacy of their practice in order to adjust to the changing needs of each student and push the boundaries of special education forward. This is a year-round position with generous benefits.
