GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Assistant Teacher must be able to consistently, and successfully perform all essential functions of the position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in nurturing and facilitating the learning experience by meeting each child at their point of need through a variety of teaching methods, which include but are not limited to individualized care and small group experiences. Interact daily with each child and support his or her learning process. Assist in implementing a positive approach of combining consistency, empathy, and culturally diverse practices. Assist with providing direct support, engagement, and extension of a child's play and learning experiences by offering assistance and providing resources. Assist in the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum activities for children.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Assist in maintaining accurate updates of records at site including but not limited to: enrollment, attendance, CACFP, communication logs, curriculum, child observations, and parent participation. Assist with all proper documentation by deadlines, to include, but not limited to DRDPR's, ITERS, ECERS, SACERS, Environmental Rating Scales, Lesson Plans, etc.)
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Assist in the monitoring of the provision of a safe, secure, clean, and challenging environment for children, families and staff. Assist in the implementation of monthly fire drills, earthquake drills, and annual disaster drills. Assist in reporting safety hazards and injuries the Teacher immediately. Follow health and safety standards for children, families, and staff. Watch for signs of illness in children at all times and assists in the direction of ill children to the proper medical attention.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in supporting the Site Supervisor in meeting all Licensing and Sub-Contractor Regulations, Funding, Terms & Conditions, SJB policies & procedures, and the Education Code where applicable. LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures with conformance to the prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from government entities, employees, managers, clients, and the general public. Bilingual a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts with a 10 Key.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, occasionally in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
