Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic role supporting students as a Paraprofessional during the Extended School Year (ESY) in an inclusive school environment near San Mateo, CA! This contract opportunity involves working closely with students and educators from June 15 to July 17, providing essential support across all age groups, from Pre-K to high school and county programs. Flexibility is key, as paraprofessionals are assigned where needed and may have responsibilities such as assisting with feeding, toileting, and specialized healthcare procedures. Position requirements (varies by role, see descriptions below): Minimum of an Associate Degree, 48+ college units plus high school diploma, or passage of CBEST or instructional aide exam with a high school diploma.
For certain roles:
CPR and Community First Aid certification (training provided). Completion of specialized trainings (such as anti-seizure medication, blood glucose testing, gastrostomy tube feeding, asthma medication, and others as assigned). Experience supporting students with significant social-emotional or behavioral needs. Knowledge of sign language and deaf culture, with fluent sign language ability if assigned to related roles. Coursework or experience in Braille and/or work with vision-impaired students, if applicable. Valid State of California Licensed Vocational Nursing credential for specific positions.
