Job Description
Storyteller at Transition House seeks a dedicated, motivated person who loves working with very young children to join our team as our Rover Teacher's Aide. At this location, we serve infants aged 6 weeks to 2 years. This position spends a lot of time in the classroom working with our young students while covering teacher breaks, helping prepare meals/assisting with mealtime tasks, and assisting with center housekeeping tasks.

Storyteller is a therapeutic program providing high-quality early childhood education for children facing adverse challenges in Santa Barbara County and comprehensive support services for their families. We operate three fully-licensed education centers and annually serve an estimated 85+ children 6 weeks - 5 years of age. We strive to help our students reach their developmental milestones, prepare them for kindergarten, increase resilience, and promote protective factors in children, caregivers, teachers, and the community. We focus on positive social-emotional outcomes for our students by providing culturally and developmentally appropriate learning environments, helping our students understand, express, and manage emotions, and supporting parents in gaining new techniques and skills to help their role as their children's first teachers. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Six units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) including three units in infants and toddlers is preferred. Experience working with young children. Ability to complete housekeeping tasks, such as preparing meals, helping with mealtimes, cleaning up after meal times, doing laundry, and helping keep the environment safe and clean. Assists with diaper changing, toileting, feeding, and other personal care routines as needed, while ensuring the children's comfort, safety, and dignity. Sensitive to the needs of infants. Sensitive to the needs of low-income families and cultural differences. Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward students, parents, and staff. Ability to accurately complete written reports and required documentation as needed. Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish is desirable, Developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 6 weeks to 36 months. Ability to meet requirements of Community Care Licensing; pass and update as required, a general physical exam, TB skin test, fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and First Aid certification.
