DEFINITION
The role of a teacher's aide is to assist a teacher and reinforce the instruction taught in the classroom to students. This can include participating in the preparation of lessons, going over lessons with students individually, facilitating small groups, answering questions or grading assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain a commitment to ongoing spiritual growth in self. Assist with the school-wide practice of integrating Biblical principles into the core curriculum. Assist and support the teacher in any way possible with class management, lesson preparation, maintaining classroom environment and organization, student work and assessment feedback, and small group instruction. Maintain student information with confidentiality at all times. Works with students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity. Oversees and supervises students during classroom and outdoor activities and on field trips. Assist extended care team in supervising snack, lunch, and recess times. Maintain professional relationships with faculty, staff, students, and parents. Direct parent concerns to the classroom teacher. Participates in staff development opportunities Other duties may be assigned.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS ABILITY TO
Assume responsibility for supervising children. Demonstrates understanding of the correct us of punctuation, spelling, grammar and math. Learn and utilize basic methods and procedures to be followed in instructional settings. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Demonstrate an understanding, patient, warm and receptive attitude toward children. Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and parents. Maintain strict confidentiality of student information.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or
GED. EXPERIENCE
Previous experience working in a school setting preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's function require the following physical demands: Walk, look downward, turn neck (up to continuously), sit, bend (frequently), stand, stoop, squat, reach, push, pull, occasionally kneel and/or crawl. Climb (infrequently); grasp/manipulate materials & supplies (continuously); lift items to 10 pounds (frequently), carry to 10 pounds (occasionally), lift/carry to 40 pounds (infrequently), seeing, hearing and speaking continuously as needed.
