N/A Summary of Job Description Responsible for providing health care support, medications, and first aid/treatment to sick or injured students. Duties also include inputting student health data into the computer system, scheduling appointments, answering phones, greeting visitors, ordering medical supplies, updating immunization records, and coordinating hearing and vision screenings. This position is instrumental in coordinating student care with the School-Based Health Center. Daily Responsibilities Input student health data into the computer system, including immunization records, illness/injury documentation, medications, daily clinic visits, and parental permissions. Dispense medication to authorized students in accordance with district policy and medication authorization requirements. Provide first aid and/or treatment to sick or injured students, including support for students with Emergency Action Plans and Diabetes Care Plans. Medication and Medical Procedures (Delegated Tasks) Perform delegated health tasks under the training, delegation, and supervision of the licensed School Nurse, consistent with district policy and state guidelines. Delegated tasks may include, but are not limited to: Blood glucose monitoring Carbohydrate counting and snack monitoring Insulin administration via pen, syringe, or pump support as delegated Glucagon administration in emergencies EpiPen administration Oral medication administration Other delegated procedures as trained and authorized by the School Nurse Assist in scheduling appointments for students with the School-Based Health Center and other community health providers. Answer telephones, respond to questions, provide information to callers, and direct calls to appropriate staff members. Monthly Responsibilities Assist in ordering medical supplies for the district or school clinic. Ensure immunization records are up-to-date and compliant by: Checking new student immunization records Verifying compliance for currently enrolled students Sending notifications to parents/guardians when students are not compliant Assisting with organizing vaccine clinics held at the schools Maintain and file paperwork in student health charts. Annual Responsibilities Coordinate and assist with student vision and hearing screenings. As Needed Responsibilities Participate in communication and collaboration with the building nurse regarding student health needs and clinic operations. Demonstrate a commitment to building and maintaining a safe, fair, and respectful working and learning environment that honors the cultural diversity of students and staff. Complete district-required health care training and competency verification. Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines where applicable. Ongoing Perform other duties as assigned.
