Assistant Teacher-Floater at
Little Peaks Learning Center Pay:
$19.00
  • $23.00 per hour Job description: We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher
  • Floater to support our lead and assistant teachers during times of need including but not limited to Breaks, Lunch and other unforeseen disruptions during the day.
Floaters are expected to cover all classrooms within our facility to support teachers and staff. We are a family-owned childcare center, opening mid-August 2026 . The ideal candidate is flexible, patient, energetic, and passionate about early childhood education. Our Floaters along with early childhood teachers are responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include infants, toddlers and/or preschool age children; develops partnerships with parents/child's caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in our program. Assistant teachers are expected to care for each child, interact and build relationships, play and have fun with them, clean and organize classrooms. The Assistant teacher will assist the Lead teacher in the following Duties and responsibilities:
Duties:
Although Floaters will mostly be covering breaks for teachers, there may be times when a Floater will be required to step in and assume the following duties. Assist teachers in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social skills development. Curriculum is based around universal STEM guidelines. Support classroom management by maintaining a positive environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and respectful interactions among children Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and physical growth Help with routine childcare tasks such as supervising playtime, snack time, nap time, and bathroom routines Foster inclusive learning by working effectively with children with disabilities or special needs, including those on the autism spectrum Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on children's progress and behavior Support behavior management strategies to ensure a safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere Collaborate with team members to plan educational activities that incorporate Montessori or other child-centered teaching philosophies
Requirements:
Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members Ability to manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques Familiarity with literacy education, math concepts, and tutoring methods suitable for early learners Demonstrated ability to proofread and review educational materials for accuracy and clarity Passion for mentoring and working with children to foster their growth and confidence All courses and licensing to be completed prior to employment date.
