SCHOOL DESIGN OVERVIEW
Mapleton Public Schools is proud to offer a robust and award-winning Performing Arts program to all registered Mapleton students in grades 5-12. These programs include band, choir, and orchestra, with grades 7-12 participating in our Zero Hour program at either our Skyview Campus or the Mapleton Arts Center (MAC) on the Global Campus. Fifth and sixth grade students are offered band, choir and orchestra as beginning classes in all of our K-6 and K-8 schools during the normal school day. In addition, extra-curricular after-school opportunities include Drama, Color Guard, Mariachi and Jazz Band. These programs emphasize the art of live performance. QUALIFICATIONS
Colorado Teaching License preferred with appropriate endorsement, Music endorsement preferred Demonstrates knowledge and experience with visual instruction for high school marching band Demonstrates knowledge and experience with music instruction for high school marching band
EXPERIENCE
(Preferred): Prior experience as a Drum Corps member Prior experience working with high school, college marching bands, or drum corps Experience with marching band styles, such as corps-style, traditional, or hybrid Understanding of student-centered instruction and positive behavior reinforcement Strong background in marching fundamentals, visual performance, and field show execution Strong background in music fundamentals, live performance, and experience performing field shows
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS
Attend all marching band rehearsals, competitions, and performances as scheduled Collaborate with the Marching Band Director and instructional staff on goals and show execution Lead visual basics, body technique, music, and drill teaching blocks during camp and season Assist in the cleaning and refinement of the marching band during rehearsals and performances Serve as a positive role model for students and uphold the values of Mapleton Public Schools Communicate effectively with students and contribute to building respectful, inclusive, and performance-focused culture Reliable transportation and punctuality are required Ability to work collaboratively with the marching band director, staff, and student leadership team Strong communication and leadership skills
TRAINING
Mandatory Title IX training is required by the Colorado Department of Education and for all public-school employees. Title IX training addresses harassment, discrimination, and bullying. Completing these mandatory Title IX training courses ensure we are meeting state requirements while continuing to foster a culture of safety and belonging across our schools. You will have two mandatory training courses that must be completed within 30 days of your date of hire and are required to be completed on your own time.
