  • Highly qualified requirement: High school diploma or equivalent plus an Associate Degree, 48 college semester credits, or ParaPro PRAXIS/Workeys.
For those who do not have an Associate Degree, 48 college semester credits, or ParaPro PRAXIS/Workkeys, Westminster Public Schools offers an alternative method of meeting the highly qualified requirement through district sponsored classes and district assessment.
  • Must complete and pass various pre-placement background screenings
  • English language skills and Interpersonal relations skills
  • Bilingual desired
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies and building and department procedures
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
  • Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborates and communicates with parents, students, and faculty
  • Supports and assists Title I Teacher in preparation for classroom activities
  • Supports teacher in the delivery of the instructional program
  • Participates in opportunities to develop knowledge and skills that support assignments
  • Maintains all necessary documents within areas of responsibility
  • Works with small groups of students and/or language classes throughout the day focusing on literacy skills
  • Works with a team of professionals meeting the diverse needs of Kindergarten
  • 5th grade students
