This position is a 9-month, hourly, full-time position. We are looking to fill five (5) TA positions in our team. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about a Classical Education. An American Legacy Education will emphasize the traditions of Western Civilization utilizing the study of history, literature, philosophy, and the fine arts. It features a rich and recurring examination of literary, moral, philosophical, political, and historic knowledge to equip students for college and/or careers. The curriculum is balanced and strong across the four core disciplines: math, science, literature and history with explicit instruction leading to reading fluency and language mastery. American Legacy Academy opened in 2023 with the vision of providing our students with an education that is both classical and American in its orientation; one that is rooted in the liberal arts and sciences, offering a firm grounding in civic virtue, and cultivating moral character.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent Associates degree or at least two years of college-level coursework preferred Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check and fingerprinting Previous aide or teaching experience preferred Knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practices Demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities Knowledge of subject matters and ability to instruct students at the direction of the teacher Knowledgeable with word processing, data bases, spread sheets, and reports Ability to maintain a positive learning environment Works well with students, staff, and the public Excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Able to work under deadlines Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
JOB SUMMARY
To provide an elementary education program to help pupils develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education. To promote academic, social, and citizenship development through leadership and classroom supervision.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain high academic standards and expectations Provide tutorial help to students following lessons prescribed by the teacher and reinforce material and skills using a variety of methods as directed by certified staff Provide immediate feedback on student performance to students and to the supervising teacher Respond to students' questions and requests for assistance Observe students' work and study habits Observe and record students' time on task when needed Assist students in locating prescribed instructional materials and starting their assignments Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material and skills introduced by the teacher Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher Provide individualized instruction activities using materials and sequences selected by the supervising teacher Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) Assist with such large group activities as drill and practice, reading aloud, and storytelling, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher Assist students in the library or media center Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make‑up work as assigned by the teacher Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips Administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential Communicate classroom rules and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities Alert the supervising teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher Keep the supervising teacher informed of activities and any issues that may arise Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction Help the teacher to plan and maintain bulletin Boards and other classroom learning displays Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Help very young students with their clothing and snack time routines Keep accurate records and maintain individual records for each student Complete clerical duties as assigned by the supervising teacher Attend faculty meetings as required Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as reading professional journals and other publications Seek assistance should emergencies arise Represent the school district in a positive manner Know and follow school district policy and chain of command Perform other duties as assigned
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the building principal in conformance with district policy and
IDAPA 08.02.02.120. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
By contract as determined by the Board of Trustees in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.
