- 21/hour based on experience Job Summary The Easton Community Center is hiring caring, dependable, and experienced childcare professionals to support our Before and After School Program at our Fairfield elementary school sites.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in childcare, early childhood, school-age care, preschool, kindergarten support, or OEC-licensed programs. We are especially looking for staff who are comfortable working with our younger students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 , helping them feel safe, supported, and engaged during the before and after school hours. Our K-1 students need warm, patient, structured adults who understand routines, transitions, emotional support, group management, and age-appropriate activities. One Site:
One of our program sites begins at 2:30 PM , so some afternoon shifts may be 2:30 PM
Applicants may work mornings, afternoons, or both, depending on availability and program needs. Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and care for children in Kindergarten and Grade 1. Create a warm, nurturing, and structured environment for younger students. Help children transition safely from school day routines into program activities. Support children with social-emotional development, conflict resolution, and positive behavior choices. Lead or assist with age-appropriate games, crafts, enrichment, and group activities. Maintain active supervision at all times. Communicate professionally with children, families, school staff, and ECC leadership. Follow all program policies, safety procedures, and licensing expectations. Complete written documentation when needed, including incident or behavior reports. Participate in required staff meetings and trainings. Qualifications Experience working in childcare, preschool, kindergarten, school-age care, camp, tutoring, mentoring, or education. Experience in an OEC-licensed childcare or school-age program is strongly preferred. Understanding of child development, especially with younger school-age children. Strong classroom/group management skills. Patient, kind, dependable, and professional. Ability to work as part of a team. CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certification preferred, but training opportunities may be available.
