Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers in providing a nurturing and effective learning environment for young children. This role is vital in fostering positive educational experiences and promoting the developmental needs of students across various early childhood settings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children ages 1 to 4 years old, possess relevant experience, and demonstrate strong classroom management skills. Beginning pay rate is $17 an hour but depending on qualifications, and experience this can vary. Duties Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards. Support children's individual needs through personalized care and attention. Supervise children during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and transitions to ensure safety and engagement. Help facilitate classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and social development. Assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials and maintaining a clean learning environment. Provide basic first aid when necessary and follow health and safety protocols diligently. Support children with special needs or disabilities, adapting activities as required to ensure inclusive participation. Engage in ongoing communication with teachers, parents, and caregivers regarding student progress and concerns. Participate in professional development opportunities related to childhood development, behavior management, and early education best practices. Requirements Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, or babysitting is highly preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management techniques. Experience working with children with disabilities or special education needs is a plus. Certification or training in first aid is desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not already held. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff. Compassionate, patient, and attentive to individual child needs. Ability to assist with infant care, toddler care, preschool activities, and early childhood education programs. Experience in caregiving roles such as nannying or babysitting that involved behavior management or childcare responsibilities is advantageous.
