Job Description

Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education for students aged 5 to 22 requiring intensive intervention due to severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. We believe in fostering an environment that is supportive, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to specific individual needs. Our dedication lies in the cooperative, self-motivated, adjusted, and academically accomplished development of each child. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Assistant Teacher to support classroom instruction, student development, and behavioral needs. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about supporting students in both academic and therapeutic settings.
Starting Hourly Rate:
$22.00
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (In-Person)
Summer Hours:
Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (In-Person) Please note: This position requires a year-round commitment, including both the regular school year and our summer session. We do not offer summer-only employment. Responsibilities Build positive and therapeutic relationships with students and actively engage regularly. Ensure the collection of data on student performance by Classroom Staff Members. Assist in planning and preparation of instructional materials in collaboration with the Teacher Assist students with academic tasks. Implement Behavior Intervention Plans with assigned students. Follow and reinforce classroom expectations. Collect data on student behaviors. Provide classroom instruction in the absence of the teacher as needed Benefits Trainings provided by Solterra Academy. Requirements Bachelor's Degree preferred Previous experience working with children with severe behaviors is a plus CPR certification required within 90 days of hire (training provided by Solterra Academy). Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention required with the first training course provided after hire date (training provided by Solterra Academy). Background Check Requirements All candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background screening for this position, which include drug testing based on the position description and job requirements. All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of the background check.
