Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting students' growth as a Paraeducator/Behavior Technician in a welcoming educational environment near New Britain, CT. This contract opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special needs, especially those on the autism spectrum or those with behavioral challenges. You'll contribute to student success through both one-on-one and classroom-wide assistance. As a behavioral support specialist, you will foster positive learning experiences and provide meaningful guidance to the students who need it most.
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
1-2 years of previous experience in behavior support or special education environments Background in working with students on the Autism Spectrum or with behavioral challenges Ability to provide both 1:1 and group/classroom support Comfortable assisting with toileting and personal care as needed Adaptability, patience, and strong communication skills
Responsibilities Include:
Delivering one-on-one assistance to assigned students (working mainly with 5-7 students per classroom) Supporting students with mild to advanced behavioral needs Collaborating with teachers and support staff to carry out individualized education plans (IEPs) Promoting positive behavior strategies and encouraging social-emotional development Assisting with daily activities, classroom routines, and transitions Providing personal care, including toileting help, when required
