Classroom Assistant Teacher

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the teacher as directed Ensure the safety and well-being of the children (15 months to 3 years) at all times Demonstrate rapport, with respect and kindness, for the students Perform duties faithfully, enthusiastically, and satisfactorily at the School during assigned working hours and at other specified times. The successful candidate should have experience working with young children. Attention to detail, ability to take and follow directions and be a positive team player are essential. The core responsibilities of this position lie in supporting the work of the teacher, while facilitating the children's physical, academic, emotional and social independence in a carefully prepared environment. It is preferred that the successful candidate possess some knowledge of Montessori philosophy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Able to comprehend and speak sufficient English to communicate with colleagues. Ability to speak Spanish fluently is beneficial. Possess attention to detail Have experience with children Ability to demonstrate rapport, with respect and kindness, with the students Ability to take direction and follow through consistently and in a timely manner Ability to manage the classroom in the absence of the teacher Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Ability to deal with problems calmly using initiative and common sense
