About ERCDC Embassy Row Child Development Center (ERCDC) serves a group of about 50 students from infants through preschool age in Northwest DC. The parents, staff, and children at ERCDC create an encouraging, uplifting environment for learning and growing together. We use Creative Curriculum, an educational model that emphasizes interactive, hands-on, project-based learning. The school focuses on the whole child, recognizing the importance of character education and the social-emotional needs of children while helping them achieve important developmental milestones. Responsibilities Support and assist with the oversight of the day-to-day delivery of child care services in assigned classroom. Provide care for children including changing diapers, feeding, and comforting. Ensure all children's physical, cognitive, and emotional needs are met. Support Lead Teacher with all aspects of classroom operations. Prioritize health and safety; includes, but is not limited to: conduct daily child health and safety checks, maintain child to staff ratios, provide active supervision of children, be aware of all special health and dietary needs, monitor and respond appropriately to illness & injury and emergency situations, follow cleaning & sanitation guidelines, and utilize universal precautions. Support and assist with the oversight of developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum and assessment planning, implementation, and documentation. Continually remain calm in challenging situations.

Utilize developmentally and situationally appropriate behavior management techniques. Flexibility to adapt and respond to frequently changing needs of children. Qualifications Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an associate degree (or higher) by December 2023. First Aid/CPR Must pass a background check (FBI/criminal) and drug test Prior experience working or volunteering in Child Care preferred Up-to-date immunizations Strong knowledge of educational techniques and methods for teaching young children Patient and supportive approach to the learning process Enthusiastic and encouraging team-player Ability to stand and move around for long hours at a time while teaching Flexibility to respond quickly and appropriately to changing situations
