Instructional duties and roles will be discussed and mutually agreed upon by the Assistant Teacher and classroom teacher.

Instructional duties may include:

working with small groups of students, working individually with students, assessing student learning, and assisting with the planning and preparation of classroom lessons and activities. Support of general class instruction for lessons that are led by the classroom lead teacher and specials teachers (e.g. music, art, drama, Spanish, PE). Gather resources and prepare materials to ensure strong student engagement in lessons Assist the lead teacher with tracking, analyzing, and using data to drive teaching and instruction Support our inclusion program by meeting the individual needs of students as specified in student IEPs. Support English Language Learners using practices and approaches suggested at staff training. Implement school-wide student culture policies Work together with grade-level team to facilitate and support students during lunch and recess Engage in purposeful observations of lead teachers Assist with the planning of learning expeditions and expedition projects. Participate in department common planning time meetings, and grade level common planning time meetings, and network-wide professional development Develop and maintain welcoming, positive relationships with families Completes daily tasks such as grading exit tickets, attendance, and lunch count Serve as substitute teacher when the classroom lead teacher is absent This is a 10.5-month position, which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
